A Bioinformatician/Data analyst position is available at the Microomics (www.microomics.eu) premises in Barcelona, Spain. Microomics Biotech spin-off of the CRG (Centre for Genomic Regulation) and ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advaced Studies) specialized in microbiome analysis, being the fist biotech in the national territory that focuses on metagenomics solutions. We are currently  part of the Barcelona Biomedicine Research Park (PRBB), a vibrant research environment in Barcelona). Job description:

The individual in this position will play a transversal role, providing assistance to several ongoing projects and centralizing the development and maintenance of bioinformatics analysis pipelines and databases of the company. The person will be responsible for the bioinformatics analysis of raw sequencing data of various types and on the development of databases for comparison, data mining and knowledge discovery processes. In addition he/she will be involved in research and development projects carried out within the company, and will assist in reporting tasks and interaction with customers. The person in this position will integrate and collaborate with other members of the company and will directly report to the CEO, COO, and CSO.

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with a background in Bioinformatics (Degree in Bioinformatics, or Degree in Bology, Computer Science with a Masters in Bioinformatics), or related disciplines. The candidate would have sufficient knowledge to build and run analysis pipelines in the genomics and metagenomics fields. Programming skills in python, R, or related languages and a knowledge of the Linux environment is requested. Additional skills that will be considered positively, include system administration and a good level of spoken and written English. The person will be fully integrated in an inter-disciplinary team.
